A good book for beginners and those needing a refresher

I had very little experience with Autodesk Inventor. This book starts from the basics and builds. A quiz and exercises are at the end of . each chapter. This book is not a reference.
I highly recommend this book for a beginner or someone who needs a refresher.

Good Book

I took an Inventor class for my degree In Mechanical Engineering Technology. This book was ALOT cheaper than what the school offered. This book has helped me a lot with inventor questions. I passed the class. I got a new job recently, making designs and blueprints using inventor, and this book helped me a lot.

About the Author
Stephen Nasser was 13 years old when the Nazis whisked him and his family away from their home in Hungary to Auschwitz. Stephen moved to the United States in 1958 and has had a variety of careers including restauranteur, insurance salesman, and real estate company owner. Stephen and his wife, Francoise, a retired nurse, currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada.

An unforgettable, beautiful, heartbreaking book

My Brother's voice did not leave my hands from the moment I picked it up, until the last page was read. I can't even remember my day of flights and layovers because my mind and heart were completely engrossed.

Stephen Nasser was 13 years old when he was pulled from his comfortable and loving home in Hungary, spending endless days in a cattle car, arriving in Auschwitz only to witness the brutal murder of his infant cousin Peter at the hands of an SS officer hours after arriving. He and his brother cling to one another, drawing the strength to continue through months of inhumane treatment and brutal forced labor. Stephen's resoursefulness allows he and his brother to stay together through their move from Auschwitz to a forced labor camp, and helps him survive the unimaginably difficult conditions he faced. Finally liberated from a death train by American troops, a gravely ill Stephen begins to rebuild his life, the only surviving member of his family, in Hungary and eventually travels to Cananda and the U.S.

Mr. Nasser's unflinching and detailed description of his experiences are full of emotion, and yet are told from the straightforward and optimistic perspective of a child. It's a heartbreaking combination that paints a vivid picture of a beautiful, shining young soul in the midst of utter despair.

Now living in Las Vegas, Stephen Nasser has been tirelessly sharing his story with students and community groups for the past several years. He has given over 700 presentations and was recently awarded a Humanitarian award by the FBI. Because his education ceased before his deportation, he never graduated from High School. I was very moved to see that he was recently presented with a High School diploma from Las Vegas High school for both himself, and for his brother.

Mr. Nasser is an inspiration. He has lived through something that I, a Midwesterner in my 30's, will never be able to fully comprehend. His ability to tell his heartbreaking life story, through his book and to live audiences, must be very difficult and i admire his strength and determination. I am inspired by his optimistic spirit and his generosity to his community. This book is a must read!

An excellent account of real life experience.

My wife is just finishing the book and I look forward to starting it next week. She says it is an easy to read book, but some of the situations covered are very traumatic.

We had the opportunity to meet the author, Stephen Nasser in person while traveling to Mexico and he shared some of his experiences personally. Couldn't hardly wait to order the book as soon as we got home. I hope to meet up again with the author on a future trip after reading the book.

First hand accounts of life and survival of the holocaust are interesting, yet traumatizing to some. Highly recommend this book if you are into studying this subject.

An amazing book I couldn't put down

I just finished My Brother's Voice and I am so heartbroken over everything this young boy endured yet I'm moved beyond words that he was able to survive the horror and create a new life for himself. His parents and his brother did not survive the Holocaust. The story Mr. Nasser tells had to wait until his uncle passed away because he couldn't bear for his uncle to know how his grandchild was killed. Every Holocaust book I read astounds me more and more that this was the world of Europe. How did an alleged civilized society all rally around the little house painter from Austria and commit such horrible crimes in his name. I'm so glad 'Pista' finally told his story. I read it in one sitting as I had to know what happened to them all, what secret did he keep from his uncle, how did he make it out alive, and whether he had a full life afterwards. An excellent story, very beautifully written. I can't even bear to pick up another book just yet. Thank you for sharing your history, Pista.

Opening theory in go has a long history and has undergone many changes. In the 17th through 19th centuries, the first move in the corner was usually played on the 3-4 point, or occasionally the 5-3 or the 5-4 point. The star point was almost never played. Then in the mid-1930s, the “New Fuseki” became the vogue. The star point became a key feature and emphasis was placed on central influence. In present day opening theory, the star point still carries great weight, since it occupies the corner in one move, has a powerful influence along the sides, and permits a much faster development than the 3-4 point. Its weakness lies at the 3-3 point, from which the corner territory can easily be destroyed. However, more and more openings are being played today which emphasize tight territorial control. Here again the 3-3 point is critical, whether played to secure the corner territory with one move, or to destroy the opponents corner territory. In these openings many questions arise about joseki in relation to the surrounding positions. In other words, joseki cannot be confined to just one corner or just one side; the whole board must be taken into account. This book analyzes the role of the 3-3 point in opening strategy and features examples taken from about 100 of Cho Chikun's games. The opening is the most enjoyable part of the game to study. It is also the most intuitive part of the game, and its concepts are the easiest to grasp. Any reader who knows the rules should make effortless progress by reading this book.

About the Author
Cho Chikun was born in Seoul, Korea on June 20, 1956. He is considered one of the great prodigies in the history of go. At the age of six he came to Japan to become a disciple of Kitani Minoru 9-dan. In 1968 at the age of 11 he entered the professional ranks as a 1-dan, the youngest ever to achieve that rank, and it took him only another 12 years to attain the top rank of 9-dan. His first big tournament success came in 1975 when he won the 12th Professional Top Ten title. In 1980 he took the Meijin title and this was followed by a rapid succession of big-title victories: the Honinbo title in 1981, the Judan title in 1982 and the most prestigious title, Kisei, in 1983. When he captured the Kisei title, he held the top four titles at the same time, a feat no one else has ever accomplished. At one time or another he has held every one of the seven major titles, the Grand Slam of professional go. Although he is a Korean citizen, he lives in Japan and is a member of the Japan Go Association. Among his hobbies are golf and swimming.

I have had this book for many years and highly recommend it despite being a hyper-aggressive player

Despite many people believing the opening described in this book is very weak and not aggressive, I have had this book for many years and highly recommend it despite being a hyper-aggressive player. I have used some of the openings described in this book for quite some time, and it remains my favorite go book I have ever read. The biggest thing utilizing the knowledge in the book gives you in my opinion is a mentality to scrap whatever points or influence you can find in every fight throughout the game, and it also gives you a good feeling on the importance of sente. I found other players I recommended the book to, after reading it, often had a better idea of when to leave a conflict as well and take sente elsewhere, which is a really powerful thing to improve always.

Thorough, easy to follow, though difficult to master, this book belongs in every serious Go player's library

Go is the supreme board game, and demands a level of understanding and concentration far beyond anything else. Opening strategy is especially important in this game, perhaps even more so than chess, because the fate of the entire game may be decided in the first ten moves. Due to the enormous size of the Go board (361 points on which a stone may be placed), the length of a typical Go game is over 100 moves, much more than chess. If you place your stones poorly at the beginning, it is almost impossible to recover. This is an excellent text on this vital aspect of the game. Thorough, easy to follow, though difficult to master, this book belongs in every serious Go player's library.
Good companion books are The Breakthrough to Shodan by Naoki Miyamoto, and Kage's Secret Chronicles of Handicap Go, by Toshiro Kageyama.

The second installment on Moskalenko's survey of the French

After a quirky detour into the realm of chess pedagogy with Revolutionize Your Chess Moskalenko returns to the writing of pithy opening manuals with "The Wonderful Winawer." The astute reader would do well to consider this as a continuation of Moskalenko's survey of the French Defence, Flexible French: Strategic Explanations & Surprise Weapons for Dynamic Players, to which he occasionally refers, but both volumes also stand alone. Both books are of similar length (WW 272 pages/FF 279) with about 30 pages devoted to 2 Black Winawer sidelines in FF. In WW Moskalenko tackles the mainline Poisoned Pawn in about 40 pages with what he refers to as a "skeleton repetoire." In general, he does a good job of covering almost all earlier deviations for both White and Black but I was disappointed with his response to Larsen's 5.Qf3 idea in the Exchange Winawer (which Watson did an excellent job rehabilitating in Dangerous Weapons: The French: Dazzle Your Opponents) which consists of one sentence: "Black gets an excellent game after the most precise move 5...Qe7+!" As always, I enjoyed Moskalenko's writing (name another chess author who would include a line such as "For this important game against Grischuk, Leinier Dominguez had prepared a Banana Daiquiri cocktail--with a little poison!") and the inclusion of photos of various players. Vive la France!

Another Moskalenko masterpiece!

Dear Readers,
Do not buy this book unless you have already purchased "THE FLEXIBLE FRENCH" by the same author!! You will regret it sincerely! This book is a continuation of the FF and ONLY covers the Winawer Variation of the French D. Most White players play 3. Nd2 instead of 3. Nc3 so the FF book will be much more valuable to you. Having said that, "Why should you purchase this book?" The immediate answer is, "to lead your opponent down the slippery slope of complications when 3. Nc3 Bb4 IS played!" If you want an "outside of the box" variation then the Winawer is truly it! Victor Moskalenko's book IS wonderful and gives a very detailed analysis and history of this variation in this regard. I sense the author couldn't include this work in the FF book since it would have been too much for digestion and retention. Very good decision on part of the author and publishers. The WW book has three parts:

P1: "Black and White Deviations"
P2: "The Sub and Old Winawer" and
P3: "The Ultimate Winawer" for a total of eleven chapters.
Each chapter is broken into detailed analysis of the mainline opening moves of the WW with the following improvements:

1. the reference game moves are in bold print and commented,

2. the primary alternative moves are in bold italics; branching into sub-variations and alternate variations with sub-variations outlined by A) then A1), A2), B), then B1a), B2) etc. followed by numbered sub-variations as needed,

3. Even more sub-titled analysis diagrams are added to improve the reading and visual flow of the book, after the main alternate moves and sub-variations.

4. the author gives a statistical reference and history beginning each chapter, helping the reader know the number of games researched for the variation and winning potential if used, also with a comment, and

5.the reference games come from mostly exclusive French players or French Terminators! (love or hate the french D) Who says the second time around isn't better than the first? All opening guides could take a follow of this book! Black immediately goes for the counter punch in this variation and only has to remember a few lines to play well, meanwhile White has to prove his ability. Again this book teaches you how to play this French variation and if you have purchased the FF by the same author you will be ready for play.
P1 covers deviations after 3. Nc3 Bb4 mostly encountered using statistics;

P2 covers without the exchange on c3 with the sub Winawer chps. 4 & 5, 4. e5 c5 5. a3 and with c3 exchange the Old Winawer chps. 6 (Armenian variation), 7 (Knight system) and 8 (Eingorn variation);

P3 covers the Ultimate Winawer in chps. 9 (Warsaw variation) 10 Poisoned Pawn variation (PPV)) and 11 (Black Queen Blues (BQB)). Commonly played lines from professional games are deeply analised and commented with improvements to the referenced game moves.
As a reader, you shouldn't expect repertoire books to hold your hand through a chess game but be a good guide, allowing you to develop your own style and creativity during play. Our play improves knowing what to do at the appointed time and situation. This book and author's writing style help you accomplish that task. I had the opportunity to play this variation in CC play right off the starting block after purchasing this book and wow! I'm holding my own against master players! Buy this book and enjoy the wondrous Winawer ride!! If you have the opportunity to play this variation as BLACK, White players will not know what hit them!

It misses something

Even though the book brings new ideas about the winawer, i think the analisys are too much extensive.There are to many sub variations to check, but the explanations of the main ideas doesn't follow the flexible french standard, what let the presented concepts a bit weaker.
I recomend the flexible french, but this one is not so good.

About the Author
Terry Shintani, M.D.,J.D., M.P.H., received his Master's degree in nutrition at Harvard University, and both his medical degree and law degree from the University of Hawaii. He is on the clinical faculty at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine and School of Public Health and is Director of Preventive Medicine at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. He also has a private practice in Hawaii specializing in nutrition-related disease. He was named a 1995 "Food Hero" by Eating Well Magazine, and his award-winning program is published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition as well as Encyclopedia Britannica's 1995 Medical and Health Annual. Dr. Shintani, along with one of his diabetic patients, has been featured on NBC Dateline's show with Dr. Bob Arnot.

Changing what you eat and your behavior toward food

I puchased this book as part of the Hawaiian diet program. It came with the cookbook, 21 day get started meal guide, lose weight while you sleep booklet, 2 audio and 2 video tapes back in the year 2000. I have continued to work with the priciples of the Eat More, Weigh Less diet and it really does work !!! Dr. Shintani explains the scientific evidence while using humor and genuine concern to help guide all the people who want to sincerely make an effort for the last time in dealing with improving your overall health, and changing your diet while losing weight. The Eat More Index is the key !
There are many reasons why people are overweight. It can range from biological to psychological influences but...If one can make the commitment to change their behavior toward food and eat healthy...then YOU are half way there to a better newly improved YOU !!! The Eat More, Weigh Less priciples can truly help as you make your way to the new path...

Success Finally!

I followed this eating plan with excellent results, The Doctor puts the info in such positive terms

that you can't go wrong and you want to read more. I enjoyed the way he visually displays how much

veggies you'd have to eat to equal 2500 calories. Even though I was eating veggies all the time I was satisfied.

I started out at 226 and ended up at 185 in 22 weeks (Feb to July 2011).

That's from a 38" waist to 34" waist. My cardio of choice was walking daily. I'm working

towards a 32" waist by including free weights and lifting heavy (I reached a plateau in July). Overall his book is a good solid read.

I give this book 5 stars due to the results. I'll keep the readers posted on my goal of a 32" waist.

VERY misleading title

This book is a historical and cultural survey of serpents, dragons, and some other really strange things. The premise of the book was supposed to be (from what I understood) the Return of the Serpents of Wisdom (a group of enlightened beings possibility of extraterrestrial origin). That's not what this book is about.
The author says he was initiated into an order of serpent wisdom from Mesoamerica by Anton Ponce De Leon Paiva (see The Wisdom of the Ancient One: An Inca Initiation). So you would think this book is information about the *Return* of those people to the earth either literally or figuratively.
Instead this book talks about all manner of cultural appearances of snakes, serpents, and dragons regardless of the degree of their association to the serpent masters. There are even some very dark figures in this book such as the magical dragon baphomet whom monotheistic readers would object to as a blatant depiction of satan (who is not usually considered an enlightened being).
Although the book shows very serious research it looses much credibility by including things like a copy of the supposed image of Sananda (Jesus) taken in Mexico by an archeologist in 1961 (which in this reviewers opinion is clearly a painting). It causes this book to associate to the same level of authenticity as the Cottingly fairy hoax of the 1920s.
So while the breadth of this book as a historical survey of all things serpenty is admirable, it's ability to stay within the context of a group of enlightened masters has failed. The associations the author attempts to make with any appearance of a snake, serpent, or dragon to some universal brotherhood of enlightened masters ranges from possible to tenuous to fictional.
If you want up to date information on the serpent masters there are much better works out there. Amoung them is Return of the Children of Light: Incan and Mayan Prophecies for a New World by Judith Bluestone Polich. This book is a better blend of myth, history, current scientific research, and future esoteric possibilities. Books by the mentor of this author (Anton Ponce De Leon Paiva) may also do a better job.

thick with information

I came across this book by accident, and picked it up because of the wonderful Alex Grey artwork on the cover. I am SOOO glad I found it. This book is a wonderful tool for students of ancient hermetic/esoteric wisdom, and is a valuable tool for people interested in Atlantis, or Lemuria, as well as those interested in the symbolism of the serpent from ancient times. Intuitively this book struck so many chords with me that I had to read it little by little each night to process the information. Fortunately, the writing is structured in such a way that it is easy to stop at any time & pick it back up later. I highly recommend it in your study of Esoteric philosphy.
In addition to this book (mostly for the serpent symbolism) I recommend Jeremy Narby's "The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge".

I found this to be the best book yet written on the subject!

I was in total amazement when I found this book! I had spent a lifetime searching for the information in this book. It never came all in one package for me. It took me 30 years to live and track down what I was finding the author has collected and so easily offered in this remarkable book. In short, this book is nothing less then a clear and consice exposition of who the goodly extra-terrestrials are who seeded this planet, and how they have fit into the legends and myths of human socitietes throughout the ages. When the seeker finds that all the Masters of all the Traditions have roots within the ET Serpent Star Seed, they will then discover the true nature of reality and of the Masters of Wisdom, as well as the Goddesses and Gods. Learning this squarely places the readers identity into certain terms. I consider this the book of the year, if not the decade!

About the Author

Raymond A. Barnett, a native of California, received his B.A. in mathematical statistics from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.A. in mathematics from the University of Southern California. He has been a member of the Merritt College Mathematics Department, and was chairman of the department for four years. Raymond Barnett has authored or co-authored eighteen textbooks in mathematics, most of which are still in use. In addition to international English editions, a number of books have been translated into Spanish.

Michael R. Ziegler (late) received his B.S. from Shippensburg State College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. After completing post doctoral work at the University of Kentucky, he was appointed to the faculty of Marquette University where he held the rank of Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. Dr. Ziegler published over a dozen research articles in complex analysis and co-authored eleven undergraduate mathematics textbooks with Raymond A. Barnett, and more recently, Karl E. Byleen.

Karl E. Byleen received his B.S., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from the University of Nebraska. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science of Marquette University. He has published a dozen research articles on the algebraic theory of semigroups.

I'm not the best in math but I have had other math books ...

I'm not the best in math but I have had other math books which do a better job explaining the problems and giving clear directions. This book needs to be rewritten and more examples. My other class mates have formed this same opinion.
