From compulsory, misused To-do lists to a personnalized and more effective system

[I apologize in advance for my english level, it is not my mother langague]
I am a compulsive user of to-do lists, but suffer from an overall poor organization and a constant feeling of being overwhelmed and frustrated. I am fully satisfied with this book :

- the style is concise, clear and pedagogic. It allows a fast, effective reading.
- The structure is clever : the way all the parts succeed each other is perfect to build your own system of to-do list progressively, as you read the book. The author explains the important requirements of a to-do list, and the reason for it. Once you understood this first part, he summarizes the different known strategies. At this point, I had already outlined my own system combining the existing systems and making sure the requirements for an effective to do list are met. Then, he exposes the steps to create a personnalized systems of to-do lists that allowed me to refined and implement my draft. Everything is flowing !

I haven't finished the book yet, so I can't review the rest, but I am aleady satisfied with all I learned here.

Excellent resource
By In search of productivity
I found this guide to be extremely helpful. The author distills the most common time management techniques and focuses on how to apply best practices to one's own circumstances. Many (far more expensive) guides are either very dogmatic or don't cover application at all and instead focus on theory. Worse yet, many are just too dang long and ironically, I don't have time to read them! I can't even count how many productivity/ time management books I've bought over the years and few have been as helpful as this. I will definitely be checking out the author's other books!

Great book, reviews lots of types of to-do formats, helps you identify areas that you need to work,on to improve your to do lists and offers a formula for a good one. I just finished reading the boo, and like many of his suggestions. I'm going to try to implement several of them right away and hope that it helps me spend my time on the most important tasks instead of writing and re-writing what I need to do.

About the Author
S. K. (Kip) Robisch is a Assistant Professor of English at The University of Indianapolis, where he teaches creative writing and literature. He has published creative nonfiction, short stories, and scholarship. He works with the Indiana Writers Center as an occasional instructor and gives book talks and facilitates discussions for the Indianapolis/Marion County Public Libraries. He grew up in Vineland, New Jersey, and has lived in Montana and New Mexico for all-too-short periods of time. Among his favorite hiking places in the U.S. are the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park, the three canyons of Bandelier National Monument, and the Black Lake trail of Rocky Mountain National Park.

At the very least, a howling good read

This book by S. K. Robisch is a truly exceptional piece of writing. It blends an enormous amount of research with a clarity that is rare in many such works. It is impressively backed with scholarship from a variey of fields as diverse as animal biology, psychology, history, and tribal spirituality. Robisch also makes use of images of the wolf in popular culture, such as fairytales and the current fascination with werewolf lore, to broaden the public perception of this flesh and blood entity. The point is made that the fate of the wolf and the fate of humanity itself may be more intimately bound together that might be imagined from casual observation. This book is no casual investigation of the complex relationships and systems shared by both man and wolf. The reader is invited to both observe the real lives and habits of wolves and to enter into the realm of myth and the archetype of the wolf as presented in American and world literature. The point is made several times that this creature that is so familiar to us is in fact a great unknown--a true mystery that invites exploration. The possible paradox presented here may be that even though we are invited in to examine this wonderful and wonderous animal, the animal itself may be best served if we simply left it alone.

Excellent!

I love this book quite a lot. I was so happy to find a romance novel with A. actual content, character development, and intellect B. a butch character! and C. a happy ending! There are so many lesbian romances, generally featuring two certifiable femmes, that end in a suicide or heartbreak of some kind. Learning Curve provides none of that, just honest romance with actual meaning and real characters. All things considered, this is an excellent first novel. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

Not perfect, but contained enough goodness to provide entertainment; worth a read

There was a lot to like about this book. Overall, it probably belongs in the same category as Fully Involved, or perhaps Heart 2 Heart, a couple of the most recent books I've read and reviewed. The writing isn't inspired, but it's solid. The characterizations are pretty strong, and the characters themselves are interesting and sympathetic, even with the inclusion of the bratty teenager. I wasn't bored with the book, and the tension created between the main characters sparked satisfyingly.

It was the transition between scenes where the book was at its roughest. Often it seemed like a string of solid scenes and experiences strung together by the flimsiest of phrasing or excuse for transition. This sometimes gave the emotional proceeding a herky-jerky feel, like a roller coaster, but not created intentionally through character drama, but rather the author jumping between scene transitions and character changes. And for all the drama of why Carrie was resisting her impulses, it all seemed to get cleared up in the end with neither a whimper nor a bang, but rather it just mysteriously disappeared, which was kind of annoying since it had been such a big deal all book long. This was cause for some reader mental whip-lash.

As a whole, I enjoyed reading this book, though. It was a very typical example of the average to above-average offering in this genre. There were scenes that evoked and captured true emotion. I enjoyed the fairly skillful weaving of support characters in with the drama and motivations of the main characters. I like it when they have good friends to confide in. I like the angst a character goes through as they try to change the perceptions everyone has had of them. I could have used a bit more consistency with motivations, and inspiration in the prose. But I will definitely check out further offerings from this author.

Brilliant New Author

I thoroughly loved reading Learning Curve. Although
this is the Author's first book, I can imagine that
it wont be the last one that graces my bookshelves. The Author displays an honest and true talent.
Her (Spangler's) description of the camping weekend took me back to my days in the Girl Scouts and I could almost imagine myself putting the tents up and singing around the campfire. Very engaging and accurate.
I particularly liked the fact that Spangler used the elderly lesbian as
the protector of the younger, misunderstood Tess.
The fact that this 'matriach' of the lesbian community was living a
perceived, well respected life amoung a community where religious
prejudice and misunderstanding is prevelant, was a simple, yet
empowering twist. I jumped with glee as I imagined the realisation in
Tess' mother's eyes.
The character and relationship development were realistic, intricate
and kept me on the edge of my seat.
My warm, happy and cosy endorphines flowed freely while I read along.

About the Author

Allan Johnson entered the academic world in 1999 after 10 years as a business owner/operator to dedicate his efforts to his passion for teaching. He holds both an MBA and an M.Ed in occupational training and development. He is an information technology instructor at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 2003, Allan began to commit much of his time and energy to the CCNA Instructional Support Team, providing services to Networking Academy instructors worldwide and creating training materials. He now works full time for Cisco Networking Academy as a learning systems developer.

No Correlating Sources, Nor Solutions to Questions

The guide provides a "grip" of network scenarios, however, I perceived the book stood on it own where the reader reads / reviews cisco networking concepts and then answers questions based on what was read. I began answering questions (matching, fill in the blanks) and then couldn't find where any solutions were or determine whether I had answered the questions correctly? If there is another book that works in conjunction with this guide, the author should explain this when you purchase the guide? Thumbing through the book, however, disappointed in the format. Author should be more explicit about the guides uses and where the information that generated the questions in the guide are derived from. There should be a simple and obvious location for solutions to the questions.

About the Author
Costel Puscoiu was born on August 29, 1951, in Bucharest Romania. He studied at and graduated from the Ciprian Porumbescu College of Music in Bucharest, majoring in Composition and Theory. In Romania he worked as a music teacher, and for some years he was a conductor and researcher at the Institute for Ethnology and Folklore in Bucharest. He was also a member of the Society of Romanian Composers. His compositions include symphonic music (symphonies, cantatas, and a concerto for viola), chamber music (string quartets, a sonata for clarinet and piano, contemporary pieces for several ensembles, music for pan flute), choir pieces, and film scores. His compositions are often influenced by Romanian folklore and Byzantine liturgies. He has also contributed to several musicological and folkloric studies and articles. In September of 1982 Puscoiu moved to the Netherlands from his native Romania. He is now working in the Music School department as a pan flute teacher and a leader of an orchestra at the Free Academy Westvest in Delft. He has also become a member of the Dutch Composers Association.

Very useful for players who want to progress

I have found this book just perfect for my needs. The best part of this book is that the pieces are arranged brilliantly so that as you work your way through the book, you are systematically challenged by more difficult tunes and notes in the higher register almost without knowing it. I love the tunes and the variety of composers. The man who arranged the pieces must really know the recorder and what constitutes increasing difficulty for the player. I have not one complaint -- which is unusual for me!

Great book

This book was just what I wanted. If you like classical music you will like it. There are well known composers such as Mozart, Haydn, and Vivaldi as well as those not so well known. This book is a must for beginners as well as more advanced recorder players.

As what I would say a decent above beginner but not expert recorder player I found this book helpful. It most from easy to advanced in difficulties and was challenging at the end. would recommend this for recorder players who want to move beyond being a beginner to a new level of play

About the Author

Justin Plowman is a game designer and educator, who resides in the United States. At a young age, he discovered his love for video games and the joy they bring to others. He began teaching high school students about game development in 2005 and enjoys supporting the dreams of the next generation developers. He currently teaches at risk youth about game design and development through the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology (www.wmcat.org); and also teaches Unreal Engine development as part of the Digital Animation and Game Design program at Ferris State University (www.ferris.edu). what can I say good about this book

Well, well, what can I say good about this book...

First of all I already have some basic experience with blender and Unreal Engine 4... but that does not mean, I have any expertise to present. I really have been watching forward to this book for monthes, a real disappointment
This is why I bought that book:

I hoped, it would help me to understand how to create some awesome looking assets within Blender for my game, but what I got was just a manual to create a Box and a strange hentai-egg-tentacle thing (which doesn't even comes close to a good looking asset). I thought ok maybe if I read a bit further he explains some basic AI - functions for a simple fight (I know this would be possible to explain within a few sides), to spice it up. Nope, nothing.

How about an own first, or third person character, you created in Blender and want to use it in your game?! Nope! He doesn't even mention movement inputs. Maybe you already know how to set those basics... Not even the slightest hint on how you could implement some of your own persons into your game... No human beeings (there are tons of freeware, where you can create persons - implement them into blender and set them up for UE4) No, the author focusses on a -only-for-this-example-of-game-useable-not-possible-to-fight-at-all-square-edged-hentai-egg-tentacle-thing (well you can use it technically, but seriously, a human would have been nice.)

Good you'll learn the content pretty fast, but the reason is there isn't really that much content to it. I managed to read the whole book within 3 hours. Let it be 10 hours to reproduce what is presented in this book.

This book would get 4 stars if it costs around 15 $ or 10 €, but seriously 60 $ or 35 € is way too much for this basic content.
Better learn with some youtube videos or free tutorial sides, you are able to learn the same stuff for free, if you invest a few hours of research among the internet.

Annotation to the author:
I know you know the engine, as well as you have knowledge on how to use Blender. And I know it costs time to write a book/manual. But would it have took so much afford to you, to give more or further information to readers? For this price you could have include way more. For example, a short enemy example, key (to open a door), some more boolean functions, rigging human characters, or at least how to implement some more complex animations, like walking. There is so much free stuff (don't know for sure if I'm allowed to call the names here), why didn't you present these in your book, I'm sure you know about them.

In summary:

First of all the positive aspects:

- The author explains how to export meshes and materials into UE4 (but to be honest this is no witchwork with the presented Painter which is very expensive after the 30day - trial)

- Always gives a summary after each chapter

- Understandable explanation

The cons:

- WAY TOO BASIC (what you'll learn here for this prize is also available on the internet for free)

- Many basics are MISSING (If it is a manual to show how the basics of each program works):
-> NO simple post - processing
-> VERY FEW functions of the mattinee
-> NO general meaning of the different variables
-> NO AI or enemy system (There are simple ways to show how this works; possible in 10 - 20 sides)
-> ONLY basic functions on Blender are shown (No sculpting tools, or what ever)
-> very short book (may be an subjective impression but he could have present way more content)

- Nothing to the first-/thirdperson character (he uses the mannequin template from UE4)

- No widget Blueprints

I was not sure to give 1 or 2 stars. I'll definitely try to return it..
